Hue played with temari: the embroidered thread balls given as new-year gifts. Each ball wears one of the eight dento-iro, the traditional colour names of the Japanese palette, and completing a bamboo tube names the colour it holds.
How to play
Tap a bamboo tube to lift its top ball, then tap another tube to drop it. A ball only lands on an empty tube or on a ball of the same colour. Matching balls travel together, so a run of three moves in one tap.
Objective
Fill every tube with a single colour. Hard mode stacks the tubes seven deep, puts every colour in play by level five, and hides everything you have not uncovered: you start seeing only the top ball of each tube.
Strategy tips
Keep one tube empty for as long as you can: it is the only place a wrong-coloured ball can go, and losing it is how most boards stall.
Finish a colour completely before starting the next. Half-sorted tubes take up the same space as full ones but do none of the work.
Before you pour, look at what sits underneath. Burying a colour you still need under a colour you have just placed costs two moves to undo.
On hard you are playing blind, so spend the empty tube on information before you spend it on progress. Uncovering is permanent: undo restores the board but not your ignorance, so you can scout a tube, take the moves back, and keep what you learned.
